You may have noticed us popping up a lot lately on social media, television, and in newspapers. That’s because Coney Island USA is currently leading the fight against the proposed casino project in Coney Island. If you’re not aware, “The Coney" poses an existential threat — to the local residents’ way of life, to the small mom and pop businesses in the neighborhood, and to the beloved landmarks that epitomize over a century of history. Rest assured, we’re not going to back down until the corrupt politicians and greedy developers finally understand that NO ONE in Coney Island wants their sleazy casino.

For over forty years, Coney Island USA, South Brooklyn’s most unique non-profit cultural arts organization, has stood on the front lines of preserving and promoting the People’s Playground. We’ve worked to protect some of Coney Island’s most beloved landmarks; helped the local community rebuild after Superstorm Sandy; and give small businesses a boost each year by attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators and participants to our annual Mermaid Parade.

Coney Island is who we are. We illuminate its history at the Coney Island Museum; pay tribute to its traditions with the Coney Island Circus Sideshow; and celebrate its vision at the Coney Island Film Festival.

Coney Island USA has faced many challenges since the pandemic, even without the threat of a casino looming over us. Now more than ever, we need your support — to help make much-needed repairs to our 100+ year old building; to produce the annual Mermaid Parade; to fund new programming; and continue the Museum’s efforts to preserve Coney Island’s iconic past.
